What does being a witch mean and studdying Wicca? I know the old school says it is a worship of satanism and casting spells but I'm sure that is not what you all are referring to. I found this website by looking for health food stores in the area, been following a raw food diet for some healing.Sorry this is all new to me.

HEY NORN, sorry that you live in memphis...i live there for 6 months and really disliked it. SO many shops/people down there are so not upto 'standards'. I love ebbos personally but everyone you meet says crap about it...and the gathering i went to was very impersonal...in clarksville we are all a family and anyone open to Love will feel that.(and be SO SPOILED)... as for the wicca comment...yeah wicca is one thing and satanism is another...its all a big 'self empowering' confusion sometimes. Hope to see you around Norn peace!

Witchcraft is the practice, but Wicca a religion. You can practice witchcraft and be Wiccan, but you don't have to be Wiccan in order to practice witchcraft and you can practice witchcraft without being a Wiccan. However, Satanism is a completely different. In fact, it really bothers me that people automatically assume that Satanism is the practice/worshiping of Satan. Modern Satanism is closely related to atheism and agnosticism. With that being said... It's all under the umbrella of Paganism. LOL! Just like Christianity, Paganism has a lot of different varieties and flavors. Thankfully, we are all very open-minded people who are always willing and able to talk. We have several classes going on in October and we even have an discussion group where no topic is taboo! :o) We do perform spells and rituals, but nothing demonic in nature. It's more about getting your body attune with the Earth and surrounds. Good luck with your Raw Diet. It's a really intense diet, but I have heard a lot of people have good result if they are committed. I know there is a place (Wild Oats) in Nashville that is an all natural foods store, but I haven't seen or heard anything about in Clarksville.

Wiccans do not even BELIEVE in Satan....actually, most PAGANS DONT BELIEVE IN SATAN. The whole Satan and Hell thing is something that Christians believe in...not us Wiccans. Yes, we may "cast spells", but the most important rule we live by is HARM NONE. Believe it or not, you probably have more Pagan beliefs than you realize. =) Blessed Be

Welcome Norn! If you ever come to Clarksville, I'd be glad to meet you! I too am a solitary witch, more or less. I belong to no coven. And I can sympathize with how difficult it is to find people like yourself and with open minds. Welcome! <3

Norn, I am glad that you have found our store and its' message board. My name is Frank and I am one of the owners of Celestial Esscents. I am the facilitator of the Pagan path Class and a sixth generation Stregone and a second degree Gardnerian Witch. Now Curious, you asked what does being a witch mean and studying Wicca? You also asked about if it is Satanic. Well witchcraft is a practice of a belief system that energetically something can be altered, changed, bent, or manipulated. Some people strongly connect it to Wicca, a more modern Earth based religion. Some people say if your a witch your Wiccan which is untrue. Some Wiccan observe the cycles of nature, revere the seasons, and hold ceremonies for deities. Wicca is a duo-theistic religion as apposed to more older witchcraft practices which have poly-theistic views. Can one be a satanist and be a witch. of course seeing that witchcraft is a practice not a religion. Satanism, not to be confused with Luciferianism, is a religion started by Anton LaVey. It does not worship a "devil" by any means but instead they believe that they are the creators of the world and worship their "ego" as I would refer to it. They do have many anti-Christian views but they don't really worship any particular deity. Wicca has remnants of older practices but it is a more modern view of Earth worship. Like Christianity, Wicca has many different "denominations" or traditions with each one having different views and practices. Spellwork and magick is one of the practices in many of the traditions but is by no means a defining pillar of Wicca, seeing as many other religions such as Santeria, Vodou, and others believe in a form of "spellwork" and "magic".

Sorry if I offended its just my lack of knowledge about spells and different religions. I could tell by the conversations it wasn't this hu doo voo doo stuff. lol I think as long as your helping others and yourself in healing, that it would only have a positive effect. I agree with the harm to NONE.Still following the raw diet, not to extreme, I get off course when with folks I'm eating with at restaurants that don't have the best available. However the raw diet has allowed me to get a taste for the more natural foods as well as water and not the junk food or sodas :)
